Tarvo looked at Karin wearily. "What's wrong?"

Karin shook her head and kissed his forehead, whispering to him again. "Nothing, you're ok, you're going to be alright..." She said as she continued to press on his wound until it stopped bleeding.

"I'm not worried about myself. You look like you're about to collapse," he said, cupping her face.

Karin shook her head softly. "I'm fine..." She finished taking care of his wound and dabbed some more damp moss on his forehead, humming softly.

Tarvo smiled slightly before dropping his hand to his side. "You're so stubborn."

Karin chuckled softly which made her wince in pain from her head. "It's just me." She said with a smile as she finally sat back once she'd cooled him down.

"We both need to rest. I'll look after you while you sleep."

Karin looked at him worriedly, her head crusted with blood. "But what about you? And we shouldn't leave your sisters for too long. They'll be looking for us and them."

Tarvo nodded. "You're right." He stood and picked Karin up, then started running toward the waterfall.

Karin's eyes widened in surprise and she looked up at him. "Tarvo. I can walk on my own. If you carry me you might reopen your wounds..." She looked at his side where her bloody shirt was still tied loosely around it.

"You can't walk in your condition. I'll be fine," he said, pain shooting through his body. "It's only a little further."

Karin looked at him worriedly but was too dizzy to come up with a good argument and she laid her throbbing head against his chest.

When he ran, Tarvo felt his wounds reopen. He couldn't worry about that now. He had to get to his sisters. He ran to the waterfall and tried his best to swim while holding Karin. His blood flowed through the water like a twirling ribbon in the breeze. It looked beautiful to him.

Karin was panting as her head throbbed and she clung onto Tarvo weakly.

Tarvo made it to the other side of the small lake. His sisters were huddled in a corner far from the entrance. "Help her. Please." His sisters quickly ran to his side and took Karin into their care. The youngest stayed behind to help him with his wounds.

Karin's breath was coming in ragged spurts, she drifted in and out of consciousness and she had a bad fever from blood loss.

Tarvo's sisters made quick work of Karin's wounds. It wasn't long before she was patched up. It took them longer to mend the now unconscious Tarvo. For him, it would take over a week of treatment.

Karin looked over at Tarvo worriedly. "Will he be alright?" She asked the sisters. It felt weird relying on three little girls to treat such horrible wounds.

The youngest looked up from Tarvo's wound in his side and nodded. "We were the best healers in the village after our mother died. We had the best training. He's going to be fine." She smiled then went back to his wounds.
"If you want something to do, you can look for something to bind theses wounds with."
"He needs a proper hospital. This is too hard to treat." the youngest nodded.
"We have never been against technology. Unbeknownst to the villagers,Tarvo would take us across the barrier and into the technological world."

Karin stared at them in shock and nodded slowly. "Ok... Come on, let's get him to a hospital." She stood up and stumbled slightly but was able to pick Tarvo up and carry him out into the lake and swim him across.

The sisters hurriedly follow, protesting. "You can't walk yet. You need to rest."
"You sure as hell can't carry him on your own!"

Karin shook her head as she dragged him to shore. "I'm... fine..." She panted and pulled his arms over her shoulders, carrying him on her back as she headed for civilization, ignoring the girls' pleas.

It took Karin a full hour to make it out of the woods and then another 45 minutes to carry Tarvo to a hospital, she got the strangest looks from people but, typical of 'civilized humans' no one offered help. She got to the hospital and carried him in. The lady at the desk gasped upon seeing them. "Please... help... him..." Karin muttered before collapsing, using the last of her consciousness to protect Tarvo from further injury in the fall.

Tarvo woke in a hospital bed. Machines beeped and whined in his ears, making him uncomfortable. His sisters were there, waiting for him to wake.

The doctor walked in. "Ah, you're awake, how are you feeling?" He asked.

Tarvo smiled grimly. "Like I've fallen from a cliff and landed on my side in a pond 30 centre metres deep."
