Mark nodded, grimacing as he began to stand, picking up a nearby cup which was empty. “Be right back.” He muttered before moving into another room in the small apartment.

Alana nodded and looked at her bleeding and torn up ankles worriedly. Could she get them insta-healed? She doubted it.

Mark returned with a dirty bandage and the mug full of a green substance. “This might be different to the method… you clones… use.” He muttered as he kneeled and placed her injured foot on a nearby coffee table.

"ts..." Alana flinched as he moved her foot and she looked at the bandage and green substance suspiciously. "What is that...?"

“Antiseptic.” He said as he unrolled the bandage and dapped it into the substance before wrapping it around her leg, “Will clean up any dirt which will prevent infection.”

"Ah*" Alana gripped the couch as the substance stung her ankle and she flinched.

“Sorry.” Mark said as he applied a bit more on the wound before fully sealing it with the dirty bandage, “Sorry about the filth on it.” He commented, gesturing at the bandaged up wound on her leg. He then came to his feet and walked toward a nearby window which was covered with a coat of dust.

Alana looked at him and asked. "You're not... a clone are you..." It was a statement, not a question.

His eyes drilled into hers for a second before he looked away, “Yeah.” Mark said, giving a slight shrug as he looked away, back into the musty window which revealed nothing but dust. “I’m human.”

Alana's eyes widened in surprise. "For real? I thought they were extinct..." She covered her mouth quickly, thinking she was being rude.

Mark hesitated before turning around, "Let's just say we're a rare 'species.'"

Alana nodded softly and asked. "Why did you save me...? Surely human's must have a grudge against my kind..."

Mark shrugged as he ran a finger through the trail of dust, “I’m different from the rest of the humans – the clones should be treated with respect…” His eyes went down and he sighed, “It’s a shame we aren’t treated equally by your kind.”

Alana nodded softly. "Clones thought humans were barbaric creatures who only knew how to destroy. They thought we could do better..."

“Just remember.” Mark said as he flicked the dirt from his fingers and returned to his seating position parallel from her, “Humans are what created you.”

Alana nodded softly. "I know. It was in the history books."

He smiled as he cupped his hands over his cheeks and sighed, "Not sure if you'll be able to return to family."

Alana's eyes widened in grief. "But... why...?"

"You're supposed to be dead." He said in a solemn voice as he picked up the scarce amount of cloth which was left along with the green mixture.

Alana looked down. "A-All the more reason I should see them. They'd be overjoyed to see me alive..."

"They've most probably already been notified about what happened at the hospital." Mark said, "I'm betting they were told not to let you anywhere near them."

Alana looked crestfallen. "BUT THEY'RE MY PARENTS!"

"Are you sure?" Mark replied in a glum tone as his sparkling blue eyes drilled into hers.

Alana looked at him, her eyes filled with tears. "They're my parents... they said that... they love me..."

"You have much to learn..." He paused, trying to recollect her name in his head, "Alana." With that, he exited the room and went back into the one he ha entered earlier to retrieve the healing utensils.
