Mistaken

He was walking softly through the squelchy mud that was underneath his bare scaly feet. The reek of rotting fish, and the putrid stench of the rubbish around him filled his nostrils with its disgusting smell, it was so strong, he could practically taste it in his mouth. He saw the vague outline of his human friend in front of him, he couldn’t even see the dirty blond colour of his hair, or the bright red burn mark on his leg. He sighed softly. ‘He’s my only friend’ he thought sadly. The human wordlessly motioned for them to drop down. It was safe. The monster lied down, his large green scales digging themselves into the soft, muddy ground. He looked up slowly, at the stars, and in the middle, saw his somewhat deformed horn, that stuck up from where a nose should be. He then turned his head and looked at the human. He felt bad, for he felt he had forced him to give up his life and family to help him, a hideous monster, find his way home. He closed his eyes, and let darkness consume him, and then drifted away, into a dreamless sleep. He woke to a faint clicking sound, and light flooded the small area they were in.

They had been found. A group of people came quickly running through the rusted dump gates, and surrounded them, leaving them nowhere to escape. The monster hurriedly stood up. The human had been woken too, and stood up, and looked around for a point of escape.

“Beast,” a person from the crowd called.

“Monster,” jeered another.

The monster paid no mind, it had happened before. He eyes darted side to side wildly, looking for an escape. Then everything went blurry and dark, and new surroundings formed around him.

It was back when he first met the human. He, the monster, was wearing an old piece of ruined cloth. The human approached him cautiously. He, the monster was grotesque and ugly, yet the human came closer, his blue eyes wide with interest, and pity. Everyone else had rejected him, thrown rocks at him while yelling ‘Hideous creature’ and other such names at him while he ran away. The human seemed to be the only one that cared. Otherwise he was isolated, alone…

“Rhiney” the human said worriedly, eyes wide with anxiety. The Monster shook his head doggedly, as everything came back into focus. He grabbed the humans arm roughly, and ran through, forcefully pushing his way through the crowd. He ran through, releasing human from his grip. He ran to the wired fence, and quickly scaled it, putting his feet into small gaps in the fence. He reached the top and heaved himself over.

He looked back, and saw the human, still behind the fence. The monster ripped open the fence with his hands, leaving a gaping hole for the human to get through. The human stepped through, hurriedly motioned him to follow and they went to a nearby shed, creeping through the door, silently, like mice. They laid down on the hard concrete floor, which was like cold ice. The monster once again drifted away into another dreamless sleep, until morning.

“Oi, what do you think you’re doing here you hideous beast” said a voice snapped viciously, waking the monster, and along with him, the human. They looked up to see who had found them. The monsters heart sunk. It was a cop.The human had told him of them. He stood up and grabbed the human, and barged his way through the shed wall, leaving another gaping hole behind him. He ran to the road, setting the human down again. They began running as fast as their feet could take them, the footsteps echoing through the cold street. He could smell the cool night air around him. He looked around for a place of refuge, the human by his side. He saw a nearby school and ran for that, waving his hands wildly to the human to alert them where he was headed. His vision faded yet again, and new surroundings formed around him once more.

It was when he was but a baby, on the rocky, dry, desert-land planet of Amosey. The ground was shaking and heaped piles of blackened rubble fell heavily into the ground, making great holes. He was being held by someone. His parents. Pieces of firey rubbish were slowly falling, creating spirals of thick dark smoke, blackening the sky, and plunging them into darkness. His parents were running, hacking and coughing, as fast as they could. He the monster, was crying, confused. His parents finally placed down into a small shuttle like object. They pressed a button, and as he lifted away slowly, he saw tears rolling down their scaly faces…

The ringing pain in his arm brought him back to the world of reality. He looked down at his arm, and saw two small bullet holes. Out of them came blue blood, slowly trickling down his slimy scaled arm. He fell to the ground, the pain draining away his energy, his green slimy face wrinkled with pain and his soft green eyes began watering. The police had come, and started circling him, guns out and ready. He moaned softly in pain, and he could not speak, and could not prove he was a simple kind hearted creature. He rested his head down on the cold hard road.

“NO! Leave him! He’s not the monster you think” he heard the human’s strained voice ring out.

He wanted to let the human know it was alright, but he could not see him. He kept his eyes closed, tears forming, and then a flash of light filled the dark space, and a loud bang rang out through the silence.

Feedback and Title ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks gus! Smile
